Aims and Scope

The Journal of Indonesian and Malay World Studies is a peer-reviewed academic journal that publishes original and high-quality research on the Indonesian and Malay worlds. It promotes interdisciplinary and comparative studies that examine historical, cultural, social, religious, legal, educational, linguistic, and contemporary issues within local, regional, and global contexts. The journal welcomes original articles based on library research and/or empirical studies by scholars and practitioners that provide significant theoretical, methodological, or empirical contributions and demonstrate clear relevance to the Indonesian and/or Malay worlds.

The scope of the journal includes, but is not limited to, the following areas:

  • History, Culture, and Identity
  • Religion, Arts, and Cultural Heritage
  • Social Change, Law, and Community Studies
  • Politics, Governance, and Public Policy
  • Media, Education, and Knowledge Production
  • Language, Linguistics, and Literature

Manuscripts that fall outside the journal’s aims and scope will not be considered for peer review.
