Publication Ethics and Misconduct

The Basmala: Journal of Qur'an and Hadith is committed to the highest standards of publication ethics, following the COPE Principles of Transparency. This policy governs authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher.

Duties of Authors
  • Reporting Standards: Authors must present accurate, original research and avoid fabrication, falsification, or inappropriate data manipulation.
  • Originality: Plagiarism, self-plagiarism, duplicate submission, and redundant publication are strictly prohibited.
  • Authorship: Authorship must be limited to individuals who have made substantial intellectual contributions to the work. All listed authors must approve the final version of the manuscript.
  • Ethical Oversight: Authors must comply with applicable ethical standards for human or animal research, including informed consent where relevant.
  • Declaration: Authors are required to sign the Publication Declaration Form.
Duties of Editors
  • Publication Decisions: Editorial decisions are based solely on scholarly merit, originality, methodological soundness, and relevance to the journal’s scope.
  • Fair Play: Manuscripts are evaluated without discrimination based on race, gender, religion, nationality, institutional affiliation, or political views.
  • Confidentiality: Editors must not disclose information about submitted manuscripts to anyone outside the editorial and peer-review process.
  • Conflict Handling: Editors must recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where a conflict of interest may exist.
Duties of Reviewers
  • Confidentiality: Reviewers must treat all manuscripts as confidential documents.
  • Objectivity: Reviews should be clear, reasoned, constructive, and supported by evidence where appropriate.
  • Source Acknowledgement: Reviewers should alert the editors to missing citations, substantial similarity, suspected plagiarism, or relevant uncited work.
  • Promptness: Reviewers should complete reviews within the agreed timeframe or notify the editor promptly if they are unable to do so.
Publisher Responsibilities

Elkuator Research and Publication supports editorial independence, ethical oversight, responsible publishing practices, and the long-term digital preservation of published content.

Research Misconduct

The journal proactively identifies potential misconduct, including plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, and unethical research practices, through editorial screening and similarity checking. Allegations of misconduct are handled objectively in accordance with COPE guidance and may lead to corrections, retractions, institutional notification, or other appropriate actions.

Licensing

Authors retain copyright under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). This license permits redistribution, reuse, and adaptation in any medium, provided that proper attribution is given to the original work.

Concerns regarding errors, ethical issues, or suspected misconduct should be reported to the Editorial Office. The journal is committed to preserving the scholarly record through corrections, expressions of concern, and retractions where necessary.
